Specialty Drywall Systems
Impact-Resistant Drywall
Impact resistant drywall includes a reinforcing mesh or fibreglass layer that resists penetration from harder blows. It is specified in gymnasiums, schools, healthcare, correctional facilities, and any location where walls face forces that would put a hole through standard board.

About Impact-Resistant Drywall
Impact resistant board is a step beyond abuse resistant. Where abuse resistant board protects the surface, impact resistant board is built to stop a blow going through the wall, using an embedded mesh or fibreglass reinforcement layer.
It is specified where the consequences of a hole are more than cosmetic: gymnasiums, school corridors, healthcare and behavioural facilities, and equipment areas. It is heavier and harder to cut than standard board, which is reflected in the installation labour.

Why this matters
- Resists penetration, not only surface damage
- Suited to gyms, schools, healthcare, and equipment areas
- Reduces the frequency and severity of wall repairs
- Available in fire rated versions where both are required

How we work
Our Process
How a impact-resistant drywall project runs from first contact through final walkthrough.
Step 1: Define the Performance Target
Moisture, fire, sound, and impact are four different problems. We establish which one you are actually solving before specifying anything.
Step 2: Specify the Assembly
Performance comes from the complete assembly, not the board alone. We specify board, framing, insulation, fasteners, and sealing together.
Step 3: Written Scope
The estimate names the specific board type and assembly details, so what you are buying is unambiguous.
Step 4: Build to the Detail
Specialty assemblies only perform when built exactly as listed. We follow the detail rather than approximating it.
Step 5: Verify and Document
Assembly checked before close in, documented where an inspection or rating depends on it, then finished and cleaned.
Scope
What's Included
Written into every estimate so there is no ambiguity about what you are paying for.
- Assessment of the impact risk and appropriate product level
- Impact resistant board installation
- Reinforced corner protection
- Joint treatment and finishing
