Drywall Hole Repair
Drywall hole repair replaces the damaged section with new board supported by backing, then rebuilds the surface with tape and compound. Holes larger than about six inches need framing or backing support rather than a simple patch, or the repair will flex and crack.

About Hole Repair
The right method for a hole depends almost entirely on its size. A doorknob dent takes a different approach than a foot sized hole, which takes a different approach than an opening left behind after a plumber or electrician cut into the wall.
Small holes up to about three inches can be handled with a backed patch. Anything larger needs real support behind it, because a patch with nothing behind it will flex every time someone leans on the wall, and flexing cracks the compound. We install backing or blocking so the new board is supported the way the original was.

Why this matters
- Method matched to hole size rather than one approach for everything
- Backing or blocking installed so the patch does not flex
- Tape reinforcement at every patch perimeter
- Texture matched to the surrounding wall
