Drywall Installation
Remodel Drywall Installation
Remodel drywall installation ties new board into existing walls and ceilings. The technical challenge is the transition: the new surface has to meet the old one in plane, and the texture has to match well enough that the joint disappears once paint is on.

About Remodel Drywall Installation
Remodel drywall is harder than new construction, and it is priced and scheduled by many contractors as though it were easier. The difficulty is not the new board. It is everything the new board has to meet.
Existing walls are rarely plumb, rarely flat, and never the same thickness you expect. A 1960s Orange County house may have three quarter inch plaster in one room and half inch board in the next. Where new meets old, that difference has to be feathered out over enough distance that the eye does not catch it.
Then there is the texture. Matching an existing orange peel or knockdown means matching the spray pressure, the mud consistency, the nozzle, and the knockdown timing. We sample it, show you, and adjust before committing.

Why this matters
- Transitions feathered so new and old read as one surface
- Existing wall thickness measured rather than assumed
- Texture sampled and matched before full application
- Containment so the rest of the house stays clean
- Coordination with electrical, plumbing, and framing changes
How we work
Our Process
How a remodel drywall installation project runs from first contact through final walkthrough.
Step 1: Assess Existing Conditions
We measure existing wall thickness, check plane, and identify the texture type before quoting.
Step 2: Written Scope
Clear scope covering removal, framing changes, new board, transitions, and texture matching.
Step 3: Protect and Remove
Containment goes up, then existing material is removed selectively to limit the repair footprint.
Step 4: Install and Transition
New board is set to match the existing plane, and transitions are feathered out over a wide enough area to disappear.
Step 5: Match and Finish
Texture sampled, approved, and applied, then the area is cleaned and walked with you.
