Insulation Installation
Acoustic Insulation Installation
Acoustic insulation reduces sound transmission between spaces by absorbing energy inside wall and ceiling cavities. It is only one part of an acoustic assembly, and its benefit is easily undone by an unsealed gap at a penetration or perimeter.

About Acoustic Insulation
Acoustic insulation is where the gap between what people buy and what they get is widest. Sound batts in the cavity are genuinely effective, and they are also only one component. Sound travels through any air path it can find, and a wall with excellent insulation and an unsealed gap at the top plate will perform barely better than an uninsulated one.
This is why we treat acoustic work as an assembly rather than a product. Insulation goes in, then every penetration gets sealed with acoustic sealant: electrical boxes, plumbing, the perimeter at floor and ceiling, and the gaps at the top plate. Where the target is real privacy rather than modest improvement, decoupling the board from the studs with resilient channel or isolation clips makes a much bigger difference than any insulation choice.

Why this matters
- Treated as a full assembly rather than a single product
- Every penetration and perimeter sealed with acoustic sealant
- Mineral wool specified where the acoustic target justifies it
- Honest advice about what insulation alone will and will not achieve

How we work
Our Process
How a acoustic insulation project runs from first contact through final walkthrough.
Step 1: Assess the Assembly
We look at cavity depth, framing spacing, the space above or behind, and what the assembly needs to achieve thermally or acoustically.
Step 2: Written Scope
Estimate stating insulation type, R value or acoustic target, coverage area, and how it coordinates with the drywall schedule.
Step 3: Protect and Prepare
Area protected and any existing material removed. Insulation work generates airborne fibre, so containment matters.
Step 4: Install to Full Contact
Material installed to fill the cavity completely without compression or gaps, because both destroy performance.
Step 5: Inspect Before Close In
We inspect coverage before board goes up, because once the wall is closed nobody will ever see it again.
Scope
What's Included
Written into every estimate so there is no ambiguity about what you are paying for.
- Acoustic target discussion and assembly design
- Sound batt installation to full contact
- Electrical box sealing and offsetting
- Perimeter and penetration acoustic sealing
- Resilient channel or isolation clips where specified
- Coordination with double layer board where used
