How to verify a California contractor
The Contractors State License Board maintains a public lookup where you can check any licence number, see its current status and expiry, confirm the classifications it covers, and view any disciplinary history.
This takes about a minute and you should do it for every contractor you consider, not just for us. A licence number printed on a website is not verification. Checking it yourself is.
- Search the CSLB licence lookup by number, name, or business name
- Confirm the status reads active and the expiry date is in the future
- Confirm the classification covers the work you are hiring for
- Check whether a contractor bond is on file
- Review any disciplinary history shown

What to ask for before work starts
Regardless of who you hire, these are reasonable requests and any legitimate contractor will provide them without hesitation.
- A current certificate of insurance, naming your project as additional insured where appropriate
- A written scope of work with clear inclusions and exclusions
- Confirmation of who your point of contact will be
- A realistic schedule that accounts for compound drying time
- Clarity on how change orders will be handled and priced
Our professional standards
Beyond credentials, the standards that actually determine your experience are process standards, and they are the ones worth asking about.
Written scopes on every job. Containment and dust control as standard rather than as an upsell. Texture sampled and approved before application. Cleanup at the end of every day. A raking light inspection before handoff. And a final walkthrough before we consider anything complete.
Workmanship commitment
If work we performed does not meet the standard described in the written scope, we return and correct it. That is not a marketing promise, it is the basis on which we would rather operate than argue.
The practical version of that commitment is the walkthrough: we would rather you raise something while we are standing in the room than discover it after we have gone.
