Knockdown Texture
Knockdown texture is sprayed heavier than orange peel and then flattened with a wide knife once it has begun to set. The result is a mottled pattern of flattened plateaus. Timing the knockdown pass is what determines the final look.

About Knockdown Texture
Knockdown starts as a heavier spray than orange peel. It is then left to set for a short window, typically ten to twenty minutes depending on temperature and humidity, before a wide flexible knife is drawn across it to flatten the peaks into small plateaus.
That window is everything. Knock it down too early and the material smears into a flat mess. Too late and it has hardened, so the knife skips over the peaks without flattening them. The window also shifts with conditions, which is why an experienced applicator tests a small area rather than working to a stopwatch.

Why this matters
- Distinctive mottled pattern that hides surface variation well
- Knockdown timing judged by condition, not by the clock
- Works on both walls and ceilings
- Matched by sampling before the repair is sprayed

How we work
Our Process
How a knockdown texture project runs from first contact through final walkthrough.
Step 1: Identify the Existing Texture
We examine the surrounding surface closely to identify the texture type, the grain size, and how heavily it was applied.
Step 2: Sample and Approve
We spray a sample board, adjust mud consistency, pressure, and timing until it matches, and show it to you before committing.
Step 3: Protect and Mask
Texture spray travels. Floors, trim, fixtures, and adjacent surfaces are fully masked before any material is sprayed.
Step 4: Apply and Work
Texture is applied to the approved sample specification and worked at the correct moment, which is what determines the final profile.
Step 5: Inspect and Clean
Once dry we check the match under the room lighting, correct anything that reads differently, and clean the space fully.
