# How Our Free Estimate Process Works

> **TLDR**: Estimates are **free** and given **in writing after a site visit**, never over the phone. The scope names the **finish level** and states whether texture matching is included.

Our estimates are free and given in writing after an on site visit. We measure, assess existing conditions, identify the texture, check for moisture where relevant, and then provide a written scope naming the finish level and stating exactly what is included.

## Why the estimate happens on site

Because a price given without seeing the work is a guess, and guesses get revised upward on arrival. That single practice is behind most of the pricing complaints in this trade.

What determines the price can only be assessed in person: the real extent of the damage rather than the visible extent, the existing texture type and grain, the wall thickness, the access, and what the finished surface has to match.

## What we assess

A short list, and each item changes the number.

- Area and the number of separate locations
- Existing texture type and how heavily it was applied
- Existing wall thickness and plane condition
- Whether moisture is or has been present
- Ceiling height and access
- What the surface needs to match
- What finish level the lighting and paint actually require
- Whether the space will be occupied during the work

## What the written scope contains

Enough that you can compare it against another quote on equal terms, and enough that neither of us can be surprised later.

- Rooms and areas covered
- Finish level, stated explicitly by area
- Whether texture matching is included
- Materials and any specialty board specified
- Protection, containment, and cleanup included
- A realistic schedule accounting for compound drying
- Specific exclusions

## No pressure, and no expiring discount

We do not use expiring discounts or same day signing pressure. If a contractor tells you the price is only good today, that is a sales technique rather than a pricing reality.

Take the scope, compare it properly, and come back when you have decided.

## Our Process

1. **You Get in Touch**: Call, text, email, or use the form. Tell us what the wall or ceiling is doing and which city the property is in.
2. **We Respond**: Same or next business day, to arrange a site visit at a time that works for you.
3. **On Site Assessment**: We measure, check existing conditions and plane, identify the texture type, and check for moisture where relevant.
4. **Written Scope**: You receive a written estimate naming the finish level, whether texture matching is included, materials, schedule, and exclusions.
5. **Your Decision**: No pressure and no expiring discount. Compare it against other quotes on the specifics and come back to us when you are ready.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Is the estimate really free?

Yes. On site estimates are free across our whole Orange County service area, with no travel charge and no obligation.

### How long does the estimate visit take?

Typically twenty to forty minutes for a residential repair or single room, longer for a whole house or commercial project. Most of that is looking at existing conditions and asking the questions that determine the scope.
