# Warranty and Workmanship Commitment

> **TLDR**: If our **workmanship** does not meet the written scope, we come back and fix it. It does not cover later **moisture events**, impact damage, or normal seasonal movement.

If work we performed does not meet the standard described in the written scope, we return and correct it. Our commitment covers workmanship rather than damage from later building movement, moisture events, or impact.

## What our commitment covers

Defects in the work itself: joints that were not properly taped and have cracked, fasteners that were not correctly set, compound that was applied over an insufficiently dried coat and has shrunk, texture that does not match what was sampled and approved, and finish that does not meet the level stated in the written scope.

If any of those appear on work we performed, tell us and we will correct it.

## What it does not cover

Things that are not workmanship. Being clear about this up front is fairer than being vague about it later.

- Damage from water intrusion, leaks, or flooding after completion
- Impact damage from furniture, doors, equipment, or occupants
- Cracking caused by significant structural movement or settlement
- Normal seasonal expansion and contraction in a building
- Damage caused by other trades working after us
- Work performed by others, including painting

## The grey area, handled honestly

Some things are genuinely ambiguous. A crack that appears at a door corner six months later could be an inadequately reinforced joint or it could be normal settlement.

Our approach is to come and look rather than to argue over the phone. In practice, the cause is usually apparent from the crack pattern, and we would rather resolve it than win it.

## How to raise something

Call (949) 446-1300 or email info@hanenburgdrywall.com with a description and, ideally, a photograph taken with a light held at a low angle to the surface so the issue is visible. We will arrange to come and look.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Do I need to keep paperwork?

Keep the written scope. It is the document that defines what was agreed, including the finish level, and it is what any question about the work is measured against.
